Christmas: What are employees being given this year?

According to the "Employer Plans" survey conducted by Randstad, Polish employers will spend between 100 to 300 PLN per employee for Christmas. An increasing number of companies are opting to allow employees to choose the gift they find most suitable.

Traditional and modern Christmas initiatives

Traditional Christmas events

Before Christmas, Polish companies traditionally organize various initiatives to celebrate the season together. The most popular of these are pre-Christmas Christmas Eve gatherings. This year, 44% of employers plan to host such events, marking a 4% increase compared to last year.

Christmas bonuses and gift vouchers

The number of companies giving out holiday bonuses is also on the rise. In 2024, 39% of employers will opt for such initiatives, which represents a 2% increase from the previous year.

Gift vouchers and Children's packages

More companies are giving out gift vouchers, with 27% of employers doing so this year (a 2% increase from the previous year). One in four employers prepares Christmas packages for employees' children. Additionally, the number of companies participating in charitable activities is growing—18% of entrepreneurs engage in such initiatives before the holidays, representing a 4% increase.

Christmas bonuses and gift vouchers

In 2024, most employers who grant Christmas bonuses will award them to all employees (75%), although this is a decrease from 84% last year. The percentage of companies giving bonuses to only some employees is increasing—13% will grant bonuses to most employees, 4% to less than half, and 3% to only a few individuals. In 59% of cases, the bonus amount will depend on the employee's position or department.

Gift vouchers will be given to the majority of employees (86%), although the number of companies limiting them to most (11%), less than half (2%), or only a few individuals (1%) is rising. In 64% of companies, the value of the vouchers depends on the employee's position or department.

New trends for the Holiday season

An increasing number of companies are organizing Christmas Eve celebrations in a more informal atmosphere and giving employees greater freedom in choosing their gifts. Companies are also starting to use solutions that allow employees to select how they want to use their awarded bonus.

Summary

The rise in organized Christmas Eve celebrations, the increasing number of companies giving out bonuses and gift vouchers, and the growing freedom in choosing gifts are noticeable trends during the pre-holiday period. Employers are also increasingly engaging in community activities, organizing charitable and volunteer events, reflecting the growing importance of tradition and shared celebration.
